سُورَةُ نوح
Nūḥ— Noah
Notes & justification
See Vol. 5 p. 328 (the vowel given to a sākin before the hamzat al-waṣl of a verb whose third letter carries a ḍammah: ḍamm or kasr).
See Vol. 5 p. 47 (the same added yāʾ elsewhere).
The added yāʾs (yāʾāt al-zawāʾid) of the sūrah: there is one yāʾ dropped from the written text, in وَأَطِيعُونِ. Yaʿqūb pronounces it both in continuous reading and at the pause; all the others drop it in both states. The reasoning for such cases has been given before. (al-Mūḍiḥ 3:1301)
Notes & justification
The couplets behind the wāw in وَيُوَخِّرْكُمْ and يُوَخَّرُ. The Shāṭibiyyah: where a hamzah is the fāʾ of the verb and sākin, Warsh turns it into a madd letter — except in the family of al-īwāʾ — and from him too the wāw, where the hamzah is opened after a ḍammah, as in مُؤَجَّلًا. The Durrah fragments give Abū Jaʿfar (the code جُدْ) the same ibdāl, including the مُؤَجَّلًا type, and list among his words يُبَطِّي، شَانِيَكَ، خَاسِيًا.
When a hamzah that is the fāʾ of the verb is sākin, Warsh shows it as a madd letter, substituting it.
Except the whole family of al-īwāʾ; and from him the wāw, if the hamzah is opened after a ḍammah, as in muʾajjalā.
…and substitute — for Abū Jaʿfar (جُدْ) — and the like of muʾajjalā.
…yubaṭṭī, shāniʾak, khāsiʾan: (these too).
