سُورَةُ القارعة
al-Qāriʿah— The Calamity
Notes & justification
Three Shāṭibiyyah couplets and one from al-Durrah. The first gives the leaning of the rāʾ of the sūrah-openings for all but Ḥafṣ; the second names those who lean adrā — Ḥamzah, al-Kisāʾī and Khalaf (shafā), Shuʿbah with them (ṣuḥbah), and Abū ʿAmr (baṣr) — with Ibn Dhakwān bi-khulf (muththilā); the third gives Warsh his bayna-bayna in the rāʾ-alifs. Then the book notes that Abū Jaʿfar departs from his master's practice: the Durrah couplet opens the gate of fatḥ for him, so his row carries no cell.
The leaning of the rāʾ of all the sūrah-openings is a guarded ground for all but Ḥafṣ.
It healed truly — the choice of ṣuḥbah and of Baṣrah's reader — and they best know adrā; and with khulf it was exemplified (by Ibn Dhakwān).

What carries the rāʾ is bayna bayna for Warsh; and Nāfiʿ, in Maryam's hā yā (kāf hā yā ʿayn ṣād), with ḥā — its neck-ornament is sweet.
…and open the (imālah) chapter — Abū Jaʿfar reads the whole class with fatḥ, departing from Nāfiʿ.
