yāʾāt al-zawāʾid

In a number of words the ʿUthmānic text writes no final yāʾ, yet some readers restore it in recitation — either only when continuing, or when pausing as well. The ṣifr mustadīr in the printed text marks exactly this: a letter written but dropped when joining.
