Major assimilation

Ordinary assimilation joins a vowelless letter to the vowelled one after it. 'Major' assimilation goes further and merges two letters that both carry vowels, which is why it is called major. Al-Sūsī applies it across the Qurʾān, and it changes the texture of his recitation noticeably.
